What the app does
The Map is a maps application for the Republic of Moldova: place search, route planning, favourite places and drawing cadastral parcels.
Location
With your permission, the app uses your location on the device only, to show where you are, order search results by distance, and build routes from your current position. When you search or request a route, the coordinates of the chosen points are sent to our map services solely to return that result. We do not store your coordinates, we do not store your search history, and we do not link requests to you or your device. Search runs on a standard Nominatim instance fed with Lightcyphers’ proprietary map data; requests are processed ephemerally and discarded once the result is returned. Nothing about your location is retained, logged for profiling, or shared with third parties.
Data kept on your device
Favourite places and drawn parcels are saved locally, in the app’s storage. They may be included in your device’s Android backup (Google Backup), under the control of your phone settings. We have no access to this data.
Camera
The camera permission is used only when you tap “Scan a QR code”, to read geo: codes. Images are not saved and never leave the device.
Services used
The app contacts the platform’s map services (tiles, search — Nominatim, routing — OSRM), hosted by Lightcyphers. These requests contain only the coordinates or text needed to return the map, search result or route. Map data is © Lightcyphers.
The app contains no advertising, no marketing tracking, no user accounts and no sign-in.
Your rights
You can revoke the location and camera permissions at any time in your phone settings. You can delete all local data by uninstalling the app or clearing its data in Settings → Apps.
Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We will update this policy as needed, revising the date above.
